XL – Extra Load (stronger casing, higher pressure capability

FR (Felgen Ripen) / FP (Fringe Protector) / MFS (Maximum Flange Shield): These are all markings that indicate the tire has a special rim protection flange or extended rubber profile running around its circumference. This acts as a buffer to help protect the wheel rim from mechanical damage, such as scuffs and scrapes caused by rubbing against a kerb.
 

Key Features of EVc Tyres

• Load Capacity: EVs are significantly heavier than conventional cars due to their large battery packs. EVc tyres have a reinforced structure and often an Extra Load (XL) rating to handle this additional weight safely.
• Instant Torque Management: Electric motors deliver maximum torque instantly, which puts more strain on the tyres during acceleration. EVc tyres use robust rubber compounds and enhanced tread designs to provide better grip, manage this high force, and prevent rapid wear.
• Low Rolling Resistance: To maximize battery range and efficiency, EVc tyres are engineered with specialized materials and tread patterns that reduce rolling resistance, the energy lost as the tyre moves.
• Noise Reduction: Since EVs are very quiet without a combustion engine, road noise becomes more noticeable in the cabin. EVc tyres are designed to minimize this noise through optimized tread patterns and sometimes internal sound-absorbing materials. 

The EVc marking confirms that the tyre offers an optimal balance of durability, safety, and efficiency for electric and hybrid vehicles, while still being suitable for use on traditional combustion engine vehicles.
